10 Best High Tech Stocks To Own Right Now

Baidu (NASDAQ: BIDU  ) investors finally caught a break yesterday.

Shares of China's leading search engine soared 6% on Wednesday. The stock hasn't had a single-day rally this strong since last summer.

There wasn't any Baidu-specific news to trigger the run, and it's not as if the bulls have any dibs on "I told you so" bragging rights. Baidu's stock is merely recovering after hitting a two-year low last week. Even after yesterday's pop, Baidu has been absent from this year's tech rally with its own shares trading 17% lower in 2013.

Baidu's fallen out of favor since Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU  ) introduced a rival search engine last year. Even though Qihoo's 13% share of China's search market has come largely at the expense of non-Baidu rivals, worrywarts fear that the presence of a legitimate competitor will slow Baidu's already decelerating revenue.

Baidu's still growing. Analysts see revenue and earnings climbing 43% and 21%, respectively, when the former dot-com darling reports its first-quarter results later this month. Thinning margins and a seasonal sequential decline in revenue are problematic, but bargain hunters will be quick to point out that Baidu is trading for just 13 times next year's projected earnings. That appears to be too cheap for a market leader that is growing considerably faster than that.

Advisors' Opinion:

Molson Coors Brewing (TAP) operates in a different corner of the alcoholic beverage business: beer. The $9 billion brewer is one of the biggest in the world, with brands like Molson and Coors as well as Blue Moon, Keystone and Miller Lite (the latter through a joint venture with SABMiller (SBMRY: Pink Sheets) here in the U.S.).

Molson Coors is engaged in a battle of the big boys – as the second largest brewer in Canada and the U.S., the firm primarily competes against top-rival Anheuser Busch Inbev (BUD) for market share. Like BEAM with its small barrel bourbon line, TAP has poured resources into the craft beer segment, the fastest-growing area in the alcoholic beverage space. While that's not likely to materially change its business, it should provide a welcome margin boost.

Beer sales tend to ebb and flow with the broad economy. In 2013, with consumer discretionary spending on the upswing, beer spending should grow in kind. For TAP specifically, the possibility of a falling dollar bodes well for the firm's large international exposure -- and its ability to hike its payout.

Right now, TAP pays a 32-cent dividend for a 2.6% yield.

Part of the problem is the changing tastes of consumers. In addition to craft beer's popularity, hard ciders and teas are gaining popularity, too. Boston Beersaw depletions grow 16% last quarter primarily because of the emphasis it placed on its Angry Orchard cider and Twisted Teas, and Bud recently introduced its Stella Artois Cidre brand. Last year, bothSABMiller and Molson Coors (NYSE: TAP  ) acquiredcider maker Crispin through their MillerCoors joint venture.

As the owner of both hard liquor and beer lines, Diageo must split its focus along two fronts. In spirits it must grapple against its two primary foes, Brown-Forman (NYSE: BF-B  ) , maker of Jack Daniel's and Southern Comfort, and Beam (NYSE: BEAM  ) , which (surprise, surprise!) makes Jim Beam, as well as Maker's Mark and other brands of spirits. In beer, it goes up against domestic and global giants like Anheuser-Busch InBev (NYSE: BUD  ) and Molson Coors (NYSE: TAP  ) .

As management continues to simplify the structure at ETP -- which requires moving assets between Energy Transfer Equity (NYSE: ETE  ) and theoretically Sunoco Logistics Partners (NYSE: SXL  ) -- year-over-year comparisons will be full of asterisks indicating earnings from the previous structure, as well as the one-time charges we are accustomed to seeing. With that in mind, today I'm focusing primarily on ETP from an operations and progress perspective, highlighting three key areas investors should take away from the first quarter.

Additionally, new and reversed pipelines are allowing more crude oil to flow directly from oil and gas hot spots, such as the Permian Basin of West Texas, to Gulf Coast refineries. For instance, Magellan Midstream Partners' (NYSE: MMP  ) started up its reversed Longhorn pipeline in April, which provided another 225,000 barrels per day of incremental capacity from West Texas to Houston-area refineries, while Sunoco Logistics Partners (NYSE: SXL  ) is expected to start up its Permian Express project this month, which will provide additional capacity out of the Permian Basin of about 90,000 barrels per day.

After all, ANGI is facing intense of competition from names like RedBeacon, Google (GOOG), Yelp (YELP) and HomeAdvisor. Even eBay (EBAY) has recently entered the U.S. market. Plus, all these services are free to consumers, which puts ANGI in a tough spot. To deal with this, Angie’s List has been investingaggressively in marketing, especially TV commercials. But that can be expensive.

Dear Fellow Shareholder: The U.S. economy continues to gradually expand, building on the 5+ year recovery from the Great Recession. Employment levels are improving, though progress has been slower than expected. Inflation, for now, remains subdued. As signaled and on cue, the Fed has been weaning the economy (and investors) off of the extraordinary uantitative easingstimulus. Investors have generally shrugged off world events that might otherwise cause high anxiety (ISIS and the Middle East, Russia and Ukraine, etc.). As attention now turns to when the Fed will raise short-term interest rates, it seems plausible that volatility may intensify as the stimulus security blanket is removed. In the meantime, companies are taking advantage of the artificially low interest rate environment and sanguine investor sentiment. Merger activity remains robust, fueled by cheap and readily available credit. The IPO market has been very active, headlined by the successful Alibaba offering in September. Corporate treasurers continue to issue loads of debt on attractive terms, locking in generationally low interest rates for long terms. While these conditions will not last forever, they have helped opportunistic managers accelerate equity value growth at many companies.Investment Commentary and Outlook After three years of seemingly non-stop gains, the stock market took a pause in the third quarter. While most large cap indices eked out modest positive returns, the broader investing waters were far less placid. Small cap stocks sold off as the Russell 2000 declined more than 7% during the quarter. Energy stocks, both large and small, fell materially as investors worried about too much oil and gas supply coming online in North America (what a difference a decade makes). High yield bonds wobbled briefly in July, then again in September. Increasingly, investors are not treating all securities the same, and as stock pickers we welcome this development. The exact roll methodology differs between certain commodities. The Index will reflect the performance of its underlying commodities, including roll costs, without regard to income earned on cash positions. As always, use common sense when trading. You can be ightabout a short and still lose a lot of money if you get caught on the wrong side of a short squeeze. An ETF option to consider in lieu of shorting the yen directly would be the ProShares Ultrashort Yen (YCS).

  • [By Matthew McCall]

An ETF that takes advantage of a weak yen is the ProShares UltraShort Yen ETF (NYSE: YCS). The ETF returns two times the daily inverse of the value of the yen. For example, if the yen declines by 0.5 percent, theoretically YCS should be up 1.0 percent and vice versa. The leveraged aspect of the ETF makes it too risky for most investors and it should only be considered a short-term trading vehicle.

In the recent past, we have observed that a customer appetite for data storage has been constantly increasing. The need for speed has been the prime constraint for the customer application with voluminous data existing in applications like data warehousing and data mining. Flash drives are being unanimously preferred by customers for their storage solutions and deploying the application in a cloud computing environment. Flash drives provided speed, which can be almost 3 times as compared to conventional storage disk devices. Declining price of the flash drive is again a constraint that has enabled flash drive or the Solid State Drives (SSD) to be a favorite choice for customers.

Margins matter. The more Simpson Manufacturing (NYSE: SSD  ) keeps of each buck it earns in revenue, the more money it has to invest in growth, fund new strategic plans, or (gasp!) distribute to shareholders. Healthy margins often separate pretenders from the best stocks in the market. That's why we check up on margins at least once a quarter in this series. I'm looking for the absolute numbers, so I can compare them to current and potential competitors, and any trend that may tell me how strong Simpson Manufacturing's competitive position could be.

However, the prices for NAND are expected to remain in the mid single-digits in the quarter, but the company has lowered its costs in the previous quarter that should help the company to keep the margin intact. The NAND business is witnessing good demand due to the booming market for solid-state drives (SSD) and mobile. Thus, a slight drop in pricing should be compensated for by higher volumes and lower costs.

AlamyA US Navy X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System aircraft is towed into the hanger bay aboard the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush -- the first aircraft carrier to successfully catapult launch an unmanned aircraft from its flight deck. With a fiscal 2013 defense budget of nearly $614 billion, the United States is widely known to be a big spender on defense. By some estimates, U.S. defense spending accounts for nearly 60 percent of the $1.19 trillion the top 10 military powers spent on defense in 2011. In fact, our country allocates more than five times more money to defense than does its closest spending rival, China. And that's not the half of it. In the cutting-edge field of military unmanned aerial vehicles, the United States has such a huge lead over its rivals that it makes their combined UAV fleets look like a rounding error in a world that's essentially 100 percent dominated by U.S. drones. Pax Americana As The Wall Street Journal recently reported, the U.S. military commands a fleet of 429 "large drone" aircraft such as the General Atomics Predator and Northrop Grumman (NOC) Global Hawk. Meanwhile, America's smaller drones, built by everyone from Boeing (BA) to Textron (TXT) to tiny AeroVironment (AVAV), maker of the ubiquitous Raven man-portable UAV, number in the thousands. In contrast, the military of the United Kingdom, not even a U.S. rival but a close ally, boasts a fleet of precisely 10 large drones, most of which we built for them, and the rest imported from Israel. Italy has nine, France, four, and Germany has three. As a result, when allied forces need a drone to "put eyes" on a target, more often than not, they have to ring up the U.S. military to get one. Who You Gonna Call? For allied nations, that has to be embarrassing -- but it's a situation unlikely to change soon. As the Journal reports, European defense giant European Aeronautic Defence & Space (EADSY), the parent company of Airbus, is only just now beginning to test a
